Wallet security
Wallet arrangements differ in who controls keys, how recovery works, and what happens if a provider or device becomes unavailable. Security steps reduce some risks; they cannot eliminate them.

Understand custody
Know who can authorize access and transfers.
A service-held account and a self-managed wallet have different control and recovery responsibilities. Learn the arrangement before relying on it.
- 01
Document whether a provider or you control the signing credentials, and review the provider's current terms.
- 02
Keep recovery material private and offline where appropriate; never share a seed phrase or private key with support or a website.
- 03
Use independently verified contact details and official app or device sources when checking security instructions.
Prepare for problems
Plan recovery without exposing secrets.
A written recovery plan can identify trusted steps and contacts without storing the secret that grants wallet control in the plan itself.
- 01
Review device updates, account protections, and backup access before an urgent situation occurs.
- 02
Treat unsolicited messages, remote-access requests, and urgent transfer demands as reasons to pause and verify independently.
- 03
For a suspicious transaction or compromise, use the wallet or provider's verified incident process and preserve relevant records.
Keep the frame clear
No wallet type or checklist guarantees safety. Software, device, provider, user, and physical-security risks can remain. Never enter recovery words into a link sent by a stranger.
